Oklahoma DHS to start charging parents a fee to collect child support

Beginning October 1, 2017, DHS will start charging a fee from collected child support. The fee amount will be 3% or $10.00 per month, whichever is less from parents who receive their child support through the central DHS agency.

The fee will be taken from child support that is successfully collected and not added onto the amount owed. This means the parent receiving the child support will be responsible for the fee that could be up to $120.00 per year.

DHS has seen large budget cuts over the last year and says the fee is necessary to help fund DHS.
